PCS Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of Portersville Christian School is composed of nine members. The pastor or another representative of the founding church, Portersville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, always serves as a school board director, and four more directors must be members of Christian and Missionary Alliance churches*. The balance of the directors may be from any church or denomination.
In early spring, nominations are taken; individuals are nominated by others or they may nominate themselves. Directors' biographies are then reviewed and prayerfully considered by the Nominating Committee and by the Church Board. All nominated individuals may not end up on the ballot, as the Lord sometimes leads the Committee or Board to decline a nomination, due to the skills and talents needed on the Board at a particular time. Once the ballot is set, each adult in the school's families receives a ballot and has an opportunity to meet the candidates at an all-school meeting held in May. Finally, voting takes place in mid-to-late May for the seats which will be open in the fall.
Two or three members are elected to the School Board every year and serve a three-year term. According to school by-laws, board members are permitted to serve three consecutive terms. They may serve again after taking one year off. The church representative is not on a re-election schedule.
* In the event that no Christian and Missionary Alliance Church members run for the School Board, persons of other denominations may fill the empty spots.
