We are receiving more applications from new students than we have in several years. In addition to many new students, we have had a very high percentage of current families who have re-enrolled for next year. Several grade levels have already been closed, and many others are nearing their capacity. If you have not re-enrolled, and you are planning to return to PCS in the fall, I would strongly suggest that you re-enroll as soon as possible. Since we are past the re-enrollment deadline, if an applicant comes in and a class fills up, we would have to place you on a waiting list. High school classes, which are limited to 20 students per home room, are especially close to being filled. We want you to be here next fall, so please return your re-enrollment as soon as possible.
ATTENTION FINANCIAL AID PARENTS
Financial aid will be awarded next month. In the meantime, it is advised that you send in a payment this month, so that you do not get behind, especially those of you who are on the 12 month payment plan. For those of you who have already done so, thank you. Any questions, please call the finance office.
Update on EITC/OSTC & THE STATE BUDGET
Thank you for your responses on ACSIPA’s voter voice. Apparently, the response the legislators received was enough to avoid them cutting the $20 million they had planned. Thanks especially to the legislators from Western Pennsylvania who kept up their support for maintaining the current levels. There were over 50 responses from Portersville Christian School families out of a total of 277 responses. That is a lot of responses for one issue in the state legislature. Thanks for taking the time to do this. When we speak together on behalf of Christian schools, it works.
An Important Message Regarding School Supplies.
In recent years PCS has been charging a “Supply Fee” to each student’s account for the school year. The fee is $25.00 per student and includes school necessities for the year. We made the choice to have the Supply Fee due to our opportunity to participate in Joint Purchasing through our relationship with the Midwestern I.U. 4. Through Joint Purchasing we are able to obtain certain supplies at a deeply discounted rate.
The supply list that had previously been provided to you has been replaced with the fee as we are able to purchase notebooks, pens, pencils, poster board, markers, baggies, tape, planners, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer and many other school supplies for a percentage of what that item would cost at Walmart or the dollar stores.
High School students will be provided with pens, pencils, pencil tip erasers, large pink eraser, colored pencils, index cards, copy/printer paper, portfolio folders, three subject notebook, 1.5” binder, 3 single subject notebooks, poster board, paper towels, tissues, journal, protractor, ruler, glue sticks, Advil/Tylenol and cough drops. These items (except for the medicine) will be distributed on the first day of school and will be waiting for them in their lockers.
Elementary Supplies will be in the classrooms for the teachers to distribute as needed.
All PCS students will need a backpack and lunch box. Elementary students will also need a plastic pencil box.
Please be prompt in paying your supply fee.
